All the nitty gritty so we can have a folkin' good time

Nestled amongst the mountains of the beautiful North Thompson Valley; a 17 acre oasis plunked amidst the vast forests, just kilometers from the mighty North Thompson River and the breathtaking Dunn Lake, sits home to the Dunn Folkin’ Around? music & arts festival.DFA? sits right in the middle of Clearwater, Barriere, and Little Fart, on the infamous, beautifully scenic, eventful: Dunn Lake Rd, paralleling Highway 5, but on the other side of the N. Thompson River, and some mountains. It is basically as far away from all three towns as you can get.

We are 30 minutes from Clearwater/Barriere, and a short ferry ride, and a 15 minute drive from Little Fart.
On a backroad, (though both ends are partially paved with about ~13-18km of good paved road) or what some would almost consider a “logging road”. We are out there, total Peace.

We are fortunate to get to play and celebrate on the ancestral, traditional and unceded territories of the Secwepemc or Shuswap Nation. Their territory extends from south of Vinsulla and north to Kakwa Park, from west of Goat River and east of Jasper, including the Big Bend of the Columbia River and northern Adams Lake, from south of Squam Bay.

Did you know, you could also access the festival via train!? The VIA Rail travels through the Valley twice a week! Look into their schedule, and hop the train to DFA?! Book on a TUESDAY, and they offer deals!

Or! You can also hop your canoe, and paddle here! We are only a few km from the North Thompson. Reach out, we can send you coordinates, and radio channel to coordinate a pick up!

  • No glass, please! Please bring reusable cups, dishware, food containers
  • Smoke in designated smoking area
  • Clean up after yourself and others. This is our home, and property. We’re not your mother!
  • After the music is over, please be respectful to your camping neighbours. Some festies actually need sleep!
  • Our home, and cabins are off limits. Please respect our space, as we’re trusting you to be here. Obey all signs and fencing.
  • Be bear-aware. We live in their hood. But they can’t afford our ticket prices, so let’s keep em out.
  • Please keep campfires to designated fire rings, and be cautious. It’s a privilege to have them, so don’t folk it up! ABSOLUTELY no fires in parking areas.
  • Zero tolerance for drug use, or excessive alcohol consumption. This is not that kind of festival. Don’t be “that guy”. If it becomes a problem, security or RCMP may be involved.
  • Be kind. Stay nice.

-Our camping situation on the land operates as FCFS. We can’t reserve spots for you. Camping opens Thursday at noon.

-Be Respectful of our land, your neighbours and yourself!

-Dogs must be kept on leash at your camp, and everyone on the festival site. Please be a responsible, and respectful dog owner. If your pet becomes a proble, you may be asked to leave.

-no glass! Use respective recycle, compost bins. Help us strive towards zero waste.

-no canned music! Fire jams encouraged.

-Don’t throw waste down our creek, or use our creek as a toilet. We have beautiful outhouses on site.

-Be fire smart. It’s a privilege to be able to have them. Only have fires in designated fire rings provided. Don’t move them!

Tent Camping: We have 4 developing, rustic walk-in tent campgrounds; the Garlic Patch, Hammock City, a new, unnamed, beautiful site behind the Lumber Yard. Everything across the creek is also fair game. Each site has a communal fire ring and  camp firewood, and a pootique shitter close by. It is a good idea to bring a wagon to shuttle in your camp gear. You will park your car 300m down the road in overnight parking, at the Dunn CreeK Hatchery. We appreciate everyone who can avoid having their car, or vehicle on the festival grounds. Tent campers are our favorite!

Van/truck/car camping: We don’t have room for everyone wanting to car camp. But we do have a few zones that accomodate the van lifers, westies, or schoolies! The “Lumber yard” behind the mill, Paradise, and in whatever other knook and crannie we can fit you in. There is also room at 2 rec sites, both within 1km of the main festival grounds. Please get cozy with your neighbors, and make room for others.

RV Camping: Due to our small venue size, RV space is the most limited, as you guys take up so much space! We have two sites on the main grounds: around the mill, and the Lumber Yard. Please don’t try to go further in the property, you will probably cause a traffic jam. There is also space in a lot directly across the road, that a neighbor allows us permission to use. RV’s, PLEASE arrive on Thursday to set up, and nooo later than 4pm on Friday. Please plan to park your truck or vehicle at Overnight Parking down the road.

Family/Senior/Vendor/Artist/Volunteer Camping: We have some designated camping areas around our main home, and cabins, by our main private entrance, that is designated for these individuals. Please respect this space as it’s off limits for festival attendees.

Other Options: If camping is not your thing, and you’d prefer an accommodation option, there is a stunning resort, full of log cabins, cottages, a private lake, restaurant, bbq zones, and RV campground. Alpine Meadows Resort. The fine folks there are offering DFA? festival attendees 25% off for their stay at the resort. https://www.alpinemeadowsresort.com/ There will be a promo code to add at check out soon!

Parking

Parking is 0.3km down the road on our neighbours property that they graciously donate every year. Please respect their land. Plan to pack everything you’ll need with you for the weekend onto the festival grounds, and don’t leave it in your car. We do it this way to avoid constant traffic driving through the festival grounds.
